Willkommen in Deutschland

My dad and I made it to Germany without any problems! Thanks to Nancy's benefits we even got to sit First Class on our flight from Dallas to Frankfurt.

When we got to Frankfurt around 10 AM, we realized that New Years Eve is a non-business day in Germany so not much was open. We decided to drive to a town called Heidelberg which we had heard was cool but, unfortunately, we drove about 50 miles north instead of south on the Autobahn so we did not make it. Oops! Though we didn't get to see Heidelberg, we did get to see some gorgeous German country side, experience the autobahn and learned to print out step by step versions of our maps! We took a nap and ate dinner at the hotel and then at midnight we watched the fireworks in Frankfurt from our hotel room which was on the 39th floor. There were thousands of independent fireworks going off nonstop for almost an hour. It was definitely one of the cooler things that I've seen.

Today we drove from Frankfurt to Koblenz after eating breakfast at the hotel. We got to drive along the Rhine in wine country. There were castles and churches everywhere it was very historic! Tonight we ate some German food at a restaurant in Koblenz. Tomorrow we will head to Vallendar and move me into my apartment!
